Network Security
A new age of edge-less, multi-cloud, multi-device collaboration for hybrid work has given rise to a new network that transcends perimeters. As hybrid work models continue to gain precedence through the new network, it has become vital for organizations to address the cascading attack surface. Continuously evolving cyber threats can no longer be mitigated by reactionary bolt-on security measures or perimeter firewalls. Instead, organizations need security to permeate the underlying network infrastructure.
Security measures need to pivot from reactive to a more proactive approach of continuous contextual network monitoring that ensures threats are detected and mitigated before an expansive data breach.
A zero trust networking approach to security is paramount for organizations looking to build a robust cybersecurity ecosystem today. Based on the premise of explicit trust, zero trust security ensures complete visibility and control over any enterprise network activity, regardless of which device, application, or user is accessing that resource.
This paradigm shift has prompted best-in-class enterprises to bake security into the core of their network infrastructure. Implementing security at this layer reduces operational costs and complexity and represents the most effective way to track and successfully manage threats coming in from the wider attack surface.
Arista’s suite of security solutions helps customers accelerate their journey towards zero trust maturity. Based on the CISA Zero Trust Maturity Model, Arista supports all the essential functions CISA recommends for the network: network segmentation, network traffic management, traffic encryption, and network resilience along with controls for visibility and analytics, automation and orchestration, as well as governance.
As evidenced by the Universal Cloud Network (UCN) architecture, Arista helps customers build networks that are secure by design. Arista’s zero trust portfolio eliminates the need for several network monitoring and security tools by delivering a unified and integrated architecture that provides real-time visibility of the threat posture across the network and the ability to take action. Arista is uniquely positioned to deliver these capabilities across various networks: from the campus to the data center and the cloud.
Arista network infrastructure natively supports encryption capabilities such as MACsec and TunnelSec. These capabilities, implemented on the switches, enable organizations to encrypt data to and from legacy applications and workloads without changing those systems but instead relying on the network to protect data from unauthorized access, interception, and tampering.
Arista AVA and NetDL also enable a cloud networking ecosystem of Arista strategic partners and ISVs to deliver market and customer-specific intelligent insights and solutions for automation via continuous integration pipelines, media and entertainment, cyber-security, application and network performance monitoring, and other categories.
Network Observability
Arista offers a next-generation approach to TAP Aggregation — network observability — that enables, pervasive network visibility, zero-trust security monitoring and contextual analytics for high density, non-blocking 10/25/40/50/100GbE networks at any scale– all powered by Arista Data ANalyZer (DANZ) monitoring software solutions to deliver cloud-scale visibility with Ethernet economics
Telemetry and Analytics
Visibility is a critical component to a more efficient cloud-like network. Being able to capture what a network is ‘thinking’ or ‘doing’ is the basis for true network automation and analytics. Legacy networking has long suffered from limitations in network visibility largely due to inefficient polling mechanisms that only provide a limited subset of data. As a result, the operators of legacy networks have been essentially blinded when it comes to true network insight.
Arista EOS and CloudVision bring a modern approach to network telemetry and a replacement for legacy polling mechanisms. CloudVision Analytics engines and CloudVision Telemetry Apps take full advantage of the state streaming infrastructure of EOS and NetDB to give Arista customers an unprecedented level of visibility into their network operations.
VMtracer, MapReduce tracer and Container tracer are a part of Arista’s Telemetry solution that bring deeper workload-level visibility by integrating with distributed applications like big data, cloud, container and virtualized environments
Arista’s EOS offers an advanced set of tools for proactive monitoring and instrumentation that provides insight into network hotspot detection using LANZ, programmable event triggers with Advanced Event Monitoring and the ability to capture, aggregate and replicate high volumes of traffic for processing using the integrated DANZ feature set.
Arista’s Telemetry solutions are built on the extensible foundation of EOS and CloudVision, which offer a rich set of JSON and RESTful APIs for easy integration with third party systems. Solutions with VMware, Docker, Microsoft System Center, Openstack and SAP give customers the flexibility to choose from a best-of-breed ecosystem that integrates the state of the cloud network with Arista real-time telemetry.
AI Networking
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a revolutionary technology that is transforming many industries and aspects of our daily lives from medicine to financial services and entertainment. The rapid evolution of real-time gaming, virtual reality, generative AI and metaverse applications are changing the ways in which network, compute, memory, storage and interconnect I/O interact. As AI continues to advance at unprecedented pace, networks need to adapt to the colossal growth in traffic transiting hundreds and thousands of processors with trillions of transactions and terabits of throughput.
